Make Mine Manga - Compton Library

  • The Compton Centre Community Hub and Library, Harehills Lane LS9 7BG United Kingdom (map)

Presented in partnership with The Lakes International Comic Art Festival, Make Mine Manga is a free exhibition at The Compton Centre Community Hub and Library for anyone curious to discover more about Japanese Manga comics, as well as the avid fan.

Manga has become a pop-culture phenomenon in the UK. Six of the top ten bestselling graphic novelists in Britain are Japanese Manga authors. Using material from the Kyoto Manga Museum, the exhibition has been specially created by Paul Gravett; the curator of comic exhibitions across the UK and author of numerous books about comics and their creators, including ‘Manga: 60 Years Of Japanese Comics’.

Visitors to the library can explore the origins of Manga and the creative techniques behind the art as well as discovering the wonder of Manga-Anime.

The exhibition features artwork by incredible creators from Japan and visitors can discover work from today’s generation of award-winning British talents making Manga in their own way as part of a truly global comic language.
