Exhibition – From Houses to Pictures / 14th – 21st November

Details: The Hyde Park will play host to the debut solo show of 2008′s Thought Bubble Art Prize winner – Kristyna Baczynski. Baczynski will let loose a new troup of illustrated characters bringing to life the Picture House’s ancient architectural frame. Showing in conjunction with the Headingley Arts Trail.
Women in Comics II (16+ Age Restriction)

Details: Women in Comics looks to investigate feminine perspectives surrounding comics, whilst celebrating women’s contributions to the art form. As well as comics scholars, our line-up includes Suzy Varty, who published the UK’s very first all-woman comic book ‘Heroine’ in 1977, Maureen Burdock creator of ‘The F Word Project’ & the Danish comics group ‘Penneveninder’ with artists Karen Hansen, Monica Hee Eun Jensen, Rikke Hollaender & Ina Kjoelby Korneliussen. Thought Bubble’s 24 Hour Comic Event

Details: Join us for Thought Bubble’s first ever 24hr Comic Event. We will attempt to write and illustrate a full 24 page comic in 24 hours. Details: The strong ties between the production & scholarship of comics have long been clear, from the seminal works of Will Eisner & Scott McCloud to the theoretically informed works of Chris Ware, Dan Clowes & Seth. This conference will seek to investigate those ties, considering how comics both influence & are influenced by theoretical discourses on communication, aesthetics & narrative, & consider how comics & the scholarship of them interrelate. The Leeds Graphic Novel Awards

Details: Thought Bubble is delighted to team-up with Leeds Book Awards & Leeds Central Library this year to launch the UK’s first ever annual award for graphic novels aimed at ages 11-14. Short-listed books for 2010 are Beasts Of Burden (Evan Dorkin & Jill Thompson), Mezolith (Adam Brockbank & Ben Haggarty), Good Dog, Bad Dog (Dave Shelton), The Spider Moon (Kate Brown), Silverfin (Kev Walker & Charlie Higson), & The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz (Skottie Young & Eric Shanower). Guests to attend 2010 Awards Ceremony will be Adam Brockbank, Kate Brown, Dave Shelton & 2010 Book Award winner Dan Chernett (Malice).

2010’s award has been chosen by young people from the following schools: Temple Moor High School, Allerton High School, Parklands Hign School, David Young Community Academy, Mount St Mary’s HIgh School, Roundhay High School, Pudsey Grangefield HIgh School, Morley High School. Momiji Drop-In Workshop
