Comic Art Competition

The 8th Thought Bubble Comic Art Competition, a prize open to artists and writers worldwide, will take place as part of the 11th Thought Bubble Sequential Arts Festival – and in association with Travelling Man, 2000 AD, and Diamond Comics.

Split into two age groups with a category for young people aged 12 -17 and a second category for adults aged 18 and over, the competition seeks to discover new creative talent as well as new work from established writers and artists.

This year’s competition closes 5pm on Friday 28th July 2017, and we’re looking for an A3, portrait aspect page, telling a single story using a minimum of 6 panels. Pages will need a 3mm bleed, with CMYK colours at 300dpi.

Stories can be told in any style, and pages can be created digitally or analogue – we really want to see you stretching your storytelling muscles, so go wild! We’re happy for people to enter as artist/writer teams, but both/all creators must be credited on the final submission.

All entries to the competition will be featured in an exhibition at Leeds Central Library during the month of the festival, as well as digitally on this website.

Three winning entries from each category will be published in 2018’s Thought Bubble Anthology, published worldwide by Image Comics, and each category’s overall winner will receive £200 worth of comics and graphic novels from Travelling Man and Diamond Comics.

Each entry must be accompanied by an application form, which can be found here.
